L.A. Forum 1975

This was an interesting transition period for the Stones as Ron Wood had recently replaced Mick Taylor who had left the band after a chat with Jagger at a December 1974 party at Robert Stigwood's. The LA performances of the tour are arguably the most inspired and intense as the band seemed to take the high profile of the venue and the city quite seriously. Unfortunately, Jagger was into accentuating and slurring vocals in '75 and also carried this style in to the '76 European Tour.

Comments: These are the same old sources. Millard used a portable Nakamichi stereo cassette deck, AKG microphones, and a wheel chair as his recording mechanism. He was a notorious taper of L.A. Forum shows and unfortunately committed suicide in 1990. Missing of course from these sources is the voice of Ms. A.W. aka "Vicki Vinyl" which you hear on the old LP's. Issued on gold CD's.

(IMP-CD-026/027)

Idol Mind Productions

LA Forum, July 13, 1975

"LA forum 1975" is from the same tape source as the original Idle Mind Productions "Tour of the Americas" series released in 1975. The match to the original LP recordings can be made to audience noise which traces the location of the tape recording. After Jagger says "Who went to church this Sunday?" someone in the crowd yells "What for?". This can be heard in both this superb quality CD and original LP sources. The CD tape has been professionally remastered to produce sparkling highs and reasonably good bass response. It includes Billy Preston's "That's Life". There must have been several tapes in existence because the original record label was busted in LA in 1979, and tapes and stampers must have been confiscated. The lady behind the original label was a Stones fan and collector.
